Bangkok Post, December 20, 2011

Police on Tuesday recovered a number of weapons and ammunition from a shack in a rubber plantation in Ruso district of Narathiwat on a tip-off from an RKK member who surrendered to the authorities on Dec 19.

Abdulromae Hare, who surrendered after a clash with a combined police and military unit on Monday, led the police to the rubber plantation near Kuyi village in tambon Lalo this morning.

Police recovered from the shack four M16 rifles, one HK33 rifle, one carbine, more than 200 rounds of assorted ammunition, two bullet-proof vests, and 94 firecrackers.

Pol Col Sathanfa Wamasing, the Ruso police chief, said some of the weapons recovered were stolen from four soldiers who were killed in a clash on Sept 28 while escorting teachers of Lamo School in Ruso district.
