Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung
Hai emphasised yesterday that the country would be consistent in its
policy of developing nuclear power for peaceful purposes.
The Prime Minister made the statement at a
reception for Denis Flory, deputy general director of the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who was heading a delegation
of overseas experts from the Nuclear Regulatory Co-operation Forum
(NRCF) to attend an international seminar in Hanoi.
He said that the country would keep
obeying the international convention on nuclear safety and expressed his
hope that the IAEA would assist in implementing this.
Flory said the seminar, which drew
participation from experts from countries such as Russia, the United
States, Japan, France, South Korea and India, aimed to work out solutions
on improving the capacity of Vietnam's nuclear regulatory agency to
manage and develop the country's nuclear power plants.
At the meeting, the two sides also discussed issues related to safe infrastructure systems for nuclear power programmes.
